1.TEDx Praça Gil Eanes | May 16 | Lagos
This will be the second edition of TEDx Praça Gil Eanes in Lagos, and this year’s theme is “Metamorphosis: the beauty of change.”
The event will feature 14 speakers, each sharing their experiences from their own professional fields. Throughout the day, there will also be artistic performances, making the experience even more dynamic and engaging.
The initiative will take place at the Centro Cultural de Lagos.
2.Oleanna | May 22 | Lagos
This theatre play by ACTA – A Companhia de Teatro do Algarve takes the audience on a thought-provoking journey where nothing is clear-cut. It keeps you questioning everything, especially the truth in the relationship between a professor and a student, without ever offering easy answers.
The show will be performed at the Centro Cultural de Lagos.
3.Afronation | July 3 to 5 | Portimão
The African music festival returns once again to the sands of Praia da Rocha, featuring big names from the international music scene such as Burna Boy, Tyla, Asake, Wizkid, Gunna, Kehlani, and many more.
There are three different passes available, each offering a different festival experience. The GA pass includes entry to all performances and arenas. The VIP pass adds access to a spa, VIP bars, and exclusive vendor areas. The Golden pass includes all VIP perks plus seating closer to the stage.
4.Feira Concurso Arte Doce | July 22 to 26 | Lagos
This event has been taking place in the city of Lagos for 37 years, and, as always, this year it will feature standout performances.
The lineup includes concerts by Marisa Liz (July 22), Matias Damásio (July 23), Dino D’Santiago (July 24), Carlão (July 25), and Ana Moura (July 26). Alongside the music, there will also be sweet exhibitions, workshops, and much more.
Entry is free, and the venue will be open from 6:00 PM to midnight.
5.Feira Medieval de Silves | first half of August | Silves
Over several days, the city of Silves transforms into a true medieval setting, recreating the atmosphere of ancient Xilb, once the capital of the Algarve during the Islamic period.
The Feira Medieval de Silves is one of the biggest historical events in the country. It takes place in the historic centre and at the iconic Castelo de Silves, offering a real journey back in time with parades, jousting tournaments, fire shows, oriental dances, falconry, and historical reenactments that bring to life the Christian Reconquest and the region’s Islamic heritage.
6.Festival Mar Me Quer | August 12 to 14 | Portimão
The Mar Me Quer festival returns to the riverside area of Portimão with already confirmed names such as Maiara & Maraisa, a contemporary sertanejo duo.
On August 13, Veigh will take the stage, a rising name in Brazilian trap, R&B, and hip hop. On August 14, Orochi, a major figure in Brazilian rap, will close the lineup. Many other artists will also join, with the full lineup still to be announced.
7.Fatacil | August 21 to 30 | Lagoa
In a large venue filled with various stalls selling Portuguese goods, food, and crafts, the iconic Fatacil takes place—a fair that runs for several days in August in Lagoa.
This year’s music lineup includes Tony Carreira, M80, Hybrid Theory, Vizinhos, Plutónio, Sara Correia, Quim Barreiros, Richie Campbell, and closing with Nininho Vaz Maia.
8.Banho 29 | night of August 28 to 29 | Lagos
The Banho 29 in Lagos is a popular tradition that involves swimming in the sea during the night from August 28 to 29. It is believed that a swim on this day is equivalent to 29 baths, and this end-of-summer ritual has been passed down through generations.
The already announced concert features national artist Tanya. The midnight swim always takes place on the city’s beaches, while in the centre, there is also a vintage swimwear contest.
