Wakeboarding in Lagos is practised at Wake Park Lagos, located near the aerodrome, in a space with two large lakes and obstacles that challenge even the most experienced riders. This sport emerged in the 1980s as an alternative to surfing on days without waves. The rider is pulled by a motorised system and uses a board like a snowboard, fixed to the feet with special boots. The movement creates waves in the water, allowing jumps and tricks along the course.
Kitesurfing in Alvor is practised in the estuary, a protected natural area with ideal wind conditions and preserved landscapes. In this extreme sport, the rider is powered by the wind using a board and a kite. The aim is to glide across the water and, in some cases, even lift off above it.
